On average, Conservation Authorities plant more than 2M trees annually through their various tree planting programs and stewardship initiatives. This work helps to mitigate climate change by moderating the effects of drought and flooding, reducing soil erosion, reducing GHGs, sequestering carbon, providing habitat for wildlife, creating recreational opportunities, and providing an essential economic resource.

Summer Fest

Summer Fest- Celebrate the Summer Season with Lower Trent Conservation

Summer is in full swing, and Lower Trent Conservation invites you to Summer Fest– a family-friendly event designed to celebrate the summer! Join us on July 30 from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area, this event will run rain or shine and offers a variety of fun, engaging activities for all ages.  This event is free, but donations are always excepted.

Event Highlights:  

Guided Hike– Explore the conservation areas wildlife and gain insights into the local ecosystem on a staff-led hike or explore Goodrich-Loomis’ trails at your own pace. 

Great Lakes Map– Learn about the Great Lakes watershed through a walkable interactive map. Learn about various features of the Great Lakes watershed. 

Arts & Crafts– Create nature-themed crafts as a memory of Summer Fest.  

Augmented Reality Sandbox– Learn about watersheds through an interactive activity that brings landscapes to life.  

Campfire– Cool down with free refreshing juice and enjoy roasting marshmallows under the summer sun (weather/conditions permitting).
