In the past 100 years, anywhere from 200 to 500 terrestrial vertebrate species have gone extinct. This is at least 100 times greater than the natural rate of extinction. 40.7% of amphibian species are endangered or at risk of becoming endangered.

Free March Break Outdoor Day at Goodrich- Loomis! 

 

Looking for something fun to do during March Break? Join us for a free day of outdoor activities at the Goodrich Loomis Education Centre on Thursday, March 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Bring the family and enjoy a variety of nature-based activities throughout the day, including: 

ALL DAY ACTIVITIES: 

Snowshoeing and hiking (weather permitting) – explore the trails at your own pace 
Pinecone bird feeder craft – a fun activity for kids and families  
Fireside gathering – roast marshmallows and warm up with hot chocolate 
Maple tree tapping demonstration – learn how maple syrup season begins 
Augmented Reality Sandbox (indoors) – explore watersheds and landscapes in an interactive way 
Northumberland Land Trust information booth (indoors) – learn all about the Northumberland Land Trust and the natural areas they protect in the Lower Trent Watershed 

TIMED ACTVITIES: 

Wellness walk (11:00–11:30 a.m.) – slow down and enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest 

Guided hike (1:00–2:00 p.m.) All Day – learn more about the forest and conservation efforts
