Lower Trent Conservation
Did You Know?

On average, Conservation Authorities plant more than 2M trees annually through their various tree planting programs and stewardship initiatives. This work helps to mitigate climate change by moderating the effects of drought and flooding, reducing soil erosion, reducing GHGs, sequestering carbon, providing habitat for wildlife, creating recreational opportunities, and providing an essential economic resource.

Spring Water Awareness

Springtime is a bad time to play near the water.  The water is cold and dangerous and the current is strong.  Ice, safe to skate or play on during the winter, can quickly become thin and weak after a warm spring day.  It may look safe but is not!  Stream banks are slippery and dangerous.

Lower Trent Conservation works with local school boards to promote this message to our school children through morning announcements in the school, and through school newsletters.
