Healthy Lands – Clean Water Stewardship Program

Lower Trent Conservation offers cost-share funding to landowners interested in a variety of stewardship projects. Landowners living within the Lower Trent Conservation watershed are eligible. Here are some things you can do to help:

  • Plant trees to increase forest cover, fill in woodlot edges and connect fragmented woodlots
  • Buffer your stream, river or lakeshore by planting native trees, shrubs or wildflowers
  • Garden with native plants and control invasive species
  • Create and improve fish and wildlife habitats
  • Restore rare prairie and savannah habitats
  • Fence livestock out of streams and provide alternate sources of drinking water
  • Use cover crops on fields
  • Keep your septic system in good working order

Here is how the stewardship program works:

  1. Call and discuss your project ideas with Lower Trent Conservation staff.
  2. Book an initial site visit.
  3. Submit a funding application form FILE DOES NOT EXIST, including: two (2) quotes from registered businesses.
